Welcome to Leh, Ladakh, where every corner is frame-worthy (No wonder our entire Instagram community seems to be there). Just like countless travellers, our team members couldn’t resist the allure of this breathtaking destination, so we packed our bags, charged our cameras, and set off on a thrilling 72-hours in Leh.
If you plan to visit Leh, make sure to acclimatise to the high altitude gradually to avoid altitude sickness. Drinking plenty of water and taking it easy during the first day, or days is essential. At remote locations some facilities may be limited, so it’s essential to come prepared with the necessary supplies and of course, a spirit of adventure!
Nestled at a higher altitude, the weather here can be bone-chilling, but the clear blue skies, crisp mountain air, and starry night sky make up for it by a far mile.
Our experience there was no less than life-changing, and we’re back with many memories, some recommendations, and exciting tips for you!
All flights to Leh land in the morning. We know you’re a bunch of excited explorers, so quickly check into your cosy hideaway. But hey, no time for jet lag. Leh’s altitude doesn’t mess around. Take at least a day to acclimatize and rest.
Our recommendation: carry books and games.
Pro Tip: Buy an oxygen can (spray bottle) to be safe. It’s hot in the sun but cools down in the evening. Carry a jacket and a scarf for those temperature twists!
For lunch, head straight to Cafe Montagne which shall bless your growling tummies with the yummiest welcome meal.
Our recommendation: Thai prawn curry with Local Greens, and the Tomato and Pickled Ladakh Peach bruschetta. Ma shimpo!
In the evening, you can explore Leh Market and shop for some beautiful Ladakhi silver jewelry, masks, and exquisite Kashmiri textiles.
Must visit: Central Asian Museum at the Tsas Soma garden!
For dinner, experience Ladakhi food’s culinary magic at Namza Dining.
Our recommendation: Yarkhandi pulao, momo and gyuma. Straight-up food coma!
After a slow morning, make your way for a wholesome brunch at Leh Cafe. If possible, a quick pit stop at Bodhi Terrace too.
Our recommendation: Leh Cafe (a wholesome Ladakhi breakfast & great coffee), Bodhi Terrace (delicious smoothie bowls)
Pro Tip: Keep a driver and car on Day 2 for the ultimate convenience.
Next stop: Hemis Monastery, the richest and largest of Ladakh’s monastic world! It’s famous, it’s beautiful, and it even has a museum.
For a light lunch, visit the Stok Palace at Shey.
Next, head to Shanti Stupa, the ultimate “Wow!” spot. Ngl, you’ll forget how to blink!
Pro Tip: Neha Snacks is a gem! Stop by for mouthwatering Amritsari kulcha—a pit stop you won’t regret! Stop on your way from Stok Palace to Shanti Stupa.
Dinnertime means one thing—savouring a Tibetan feast at Tibetan Kitchen!
Feeling adventurous? If you’ve got some extra days to play with, Leh’s got more surprises in store!
