With over 70 stalls of food and 3 days to spare, navigating Grub Fest can seem like a maze of indulgence. To make your lives a little easier, we have handpicked 8 hellllls-yea stalls for you to try.
Ready? Get. Set. Grub.
Good Juicery
Begin the DSSC trail like all good trails, with hydration. Sparkling water and organic juice come together to create the perfect drink from Good Juicery. No preservatives, no fuss. Choose from pink guava, apple or passionfruit. They have a low water and carbon footprint, that’s a huge plus and a game-changer in the drinks business. A can from here is an essential accompaniment while you recce the scene. You have a long day ahead after all.
Fat Lulu’s
Now that the juice-binge is done, it’s time to binge on real food and we mean pizza! Delhi has been witness to a new-wave movement in pizza. In the last fifteen years we have gone from home-delivered fare to pizzas from wood-fire ovens.
To celebrate the evolution of ‘The Slice’, head on to Fat Lulu’s. Their pizzas have a Brooklyn drawl but an Italian heart adding yet another side to the multi-faceted pizza scene in the city. They are serving up perfect slices of heaven at the Grub Fest. Their pies are whole wheat, better on the hips, and thin crust, so you can eat more than one!
Frugurpop
Time for a pop! Frugurpop is a truckfull of popsicles that’s been spreading sugar across the city. Frugurpop = fruit + yoghurt + popsicle. These aren’t regular popsicles like the cola bar and orange bar we grew up eating. Frugurpops are handcrafted ice pops with exotic ingredients like edible flowers, Belgian chocolate or Madagascan vanilla. You can choose if you’d like a fruity fresh pop, a cheesecake or tiramisu pop or a rich chocolate one. Grab a frugurpop and walk around, maybe dwaddle to the Grub Theatre to see a panel or the Grub Market to continue your foodie trip when you’re back home.
Big Fat Sandwich
BFS sandwiches are sumptuously bursting with ingredients be it their veggie-heavy ‘wiches or ones with delightful amounts of meat. Like they say at BFS – there are sandwiches and then there are big fat sandwiches! American styled, these are a composite of flavours from around the world. The first of its kind in Delhi, BFS has a minimal menu making it easy to order in one go. They might look like they’re the big baddies in the world of ‘wiches but they’re really not. They aim to turn the image of fast-food as unhealthy, on its head. BFS uses absolutely fresh ingredients and has a healthy selection of bread. No guilt trip here.
Rosarté Couture Chocolate
Rosarté is synonymous with sweet decadence. Their chocolates are created with single origin cocoa from Java, Madagascar, Ghana and other countries around the world. This Grub Fest, you can take a cue from Rosarté founder and DSSC homegirl Radhika Gulati and try your hand at chocolate-making.
DSSC Tip: Book a slot as soon as you get there and you’ll be a truffle-maestro before the day is done! You can choose from coconut, almond and cashews to flavour them with and your own choice of sprinkles too.
Sleepy Owl
Don’t be a sleepy owl with all that eating – Time for a caffeine detour! Head over to Sleepy Owl and check out the chilled coffee culture that’s taking over the city’s cafes and bars.
Their chilled brew is made of 100% Arabica single-origin coffee beans. The beans are sourced from the Chikamaglur estate in Karnataka. The roasted coffee is brewed for over 21 hours with cold water. When ready, the coffee is smooth, strong with no bitterness. Cold Brew can be enjoyed chilled, with ice, or milk. It is a potent (yet healthy) mixer for cocktails. We talk from experience when we say it’ll do its job!
Ek Bar
If you’re looking to experience the diversity and beauty of India on your plate, you must stop by at the hip & cool Ek Bar. Celebrating modern India, yet championing the nostalgia, Ek Bar makes a valiant effort in making locally sourced seasonal ingredients the hero of every dish on the menu. What’s more they’re introducing their menu at The Grub Fest! We can’t wait to try out the exciting new delicacies they have in store.
PCO
What’s the secret password? It’s Bartender, always Bartender. PCO continues to wow the city with its diabolical drinks. Head over for the coolest cocktails in town when Delhi’s best mixologists come out to play. For 3 days you have a chance to try some, taste some, learn some and drink a lot. Be ready for a tipple-worthy time while the barmen are on a roll.
Whiskey-lovers, you don’t want to miss this:
The Grub Theatre is going to screen fun movies for the gastronomes in the day and will later host the Ballantine’s Appreciation Session, giving you a chance to try some fine Scotch Whiskey.
If Irish Whiskey is more up your alley, keep an eye out for the Jameson Block Party. #GoIrish
