Delhi’s food scene has been soaring heights so high that it’s got us giddy, pizza mania is on its way. For loyalists who know their pizza places inside out, from the ingredients to the name of the person topping their pies, we have good news. Meet and greet the new pizza places in town:
Baking Bad
The notoriously named Baking Bad is known for its nightly pizza services during sports nights and midnight munchies. The takeaway and delivery joint is quickly picking up fame and their wood-fire oven pizzas have many a fan among their Delhi loyalists. Their pies are intriguingly named from The Heisenberg and Skinny Pete to Hamlet and Tijuana. There are a multitude of toppings you can pick from: arugula, tofu, zucchini and crispy bacon, crumbled meatballs, pulled pork and shrimp for our carnivorous friends. With eight types of cheese like parmesan, brie, feta ricotta with crusts like spinach or beetroot, us foodophiles could fill up just by reading the menu. If you want to taste, rather than devour, you could always order New York style, i.e. by the slice!
Get baked at GK1 and DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon between 12 noon and 4 am.
Instapizza
The monster deep dish is taking over Delhi! If you’ve seen the several inches thick slice, you’ll know size does matter. Banker turned pizza-franchise owner, Ashwin Jain’s success is akin to the amount of cheese on a deep dish slice. You can read more about his journey to becoming pizza royalty here.
If you can’t imagine sinking your teeth into rich, layered cheese, soft dough, homemade tomato sauce, think of biting into a perfect crackling thin crust with toppings of your choice, maybe pineapple, crispy garlic chips, green chillies, mushrooms, hot mozzarella, an explosion of flavour in every bite. Well that’s what we have to say for Instapizza. You can head over to one near you, or order in. The sooner the better.

Jamie’s Pizzeria
Jamie Oliver did us all a good turn with opening his pizzerias in Delhi. Now you can actually eat what you only ever saw on TV! An international chain, the experience here is always about Italian TLC. The menu is familiar with favourites like margherita, funghi, and spicy meatball pizzas. If you’re a freak about fresh produce, you should definitely hit up Jamie’s Pizzeria. The dough is kneaded on-site and hand-stretched to make your pizzas as fresh as can be. Keep an eye out and you might catch your pizza being tossed in the air all UFO-like. You can expect a congenial eating atmosphere with families dining together. The chalkboards with friendly scribbles add warmth and the pizzerias are cozy with wooden tables, chairs and bench backs.
This is a perfect place for, as they say, putting a smile on every diner’s face
Head over to the Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj, Pacific Mall in Tagore Garden or the Ambience Mall in Gurgaon for a taste of Jamie’s.
GreenR
GreenR is a slice of healthiness tucked away in the labyrinthine lanes of Shahpur Jat on the first floor of the store by the same name. It wants to be a Californian style cafe, and it does succeed! The menu beckons the yogi in all of us. Their pizzas boast of being hand-rolled and made of corn-crusted whole wheat. You can choose your flavours – from the rocket pesto mix leaf pizza or one with meatballs, basil and buffalo mozzarella. But wait a second, it’s all meatless meat. Yes, there is such a thing in our Delhi, and yes, it does taste good. We were never this excited about eating better before.
Don’t sit there with that sceptic squint, try it yourselves. Head off to Shahpur Jat for to have a bite, and while you’re at it, sign up for a yoga class for any extra calories that you do put on!
Bhane.WIP
The quirky apparel store Bhane now has a mini cafe within it, and it’s called work-in-progress (WIP), in case you were wondering. In vogue with their minimal menu, you can choose from a classic margherita, a pesto and olive pizza, a pear rocket ricotta or a marinara. The pizza is delectable and will keep you coming back for more. In a week’s time you could be done with their entire menu, and start all over again!
After you order, you can have a steaming hot coffee and sit back with a book or play scrabble with your buds. The cafe’s ice creams and coffee will get you through the day if you decide to curl up with your laptop. The ice creams have seasonal flavours and you never know what you might find! Current crowd faves include salted caramel and PBJ but you might have one of your own.
Hop on over to number 135, Meharchand Market for a slice of Bhane’s pizza.
We’ve done our deed, now it’s up to you to go forth and indulge. Let us know how you fare with these new additions to your pizza dictionary and be sure to renew your gym membership!
