There’s a new tropical rum in town. If you have been following India’s spirited revolution, the name Third Eye Distillery likely conjures images of the bold, botanical-forward Stranger & Sons gin that helped put Indian craft spirits on the global map. But the team isn’t resting on its laurels. After a highly successful foray into the world of whisky with Otherside earlier in 2025 – which, by the way, snagged Gold at both the Asian Spirits Masters and the World Whisky Masters – they have turned their sights toward a category ripe for a rethink: Spiced Rum.
Enter Lost & Found Tropical Spiced Rum.
Why Rum? Why Now?
India has a deep, ancestral lineage tied to sugarcane, native spices, and the ancient coastal trade routes that helped define the spirit’s origins. As Rahul Mehra, CEO & Co-founder of Third Eye Distillery, puts it, “India has always been a land where sugarcane and spice thrived long before rum became Caribbean; so it made sense to bring this story home.”
In an industry currently seeing a global resurgence in rum, the launch of Lost & Found feels less like a trend-chase and more like a return to form. It is a spirit shaped by the monsoons that reset the seasons, the sun-soaked terroirs of Goa, and a food culture that has revolved around spice and craft for millennia.
What’s In The Bottle?
Born in Goa and steeped in native botanicals, Lost & Found is designed to celebrate the Indian tropics.
The Nose: Expect a bright greeting of orange and smooth vanilla, layered with hints of cassia and ripe tropical fruits.
The Palate: It builds into a core of roasted nuts and orange zest, warmed by the nuanced notes of nutmeg and mace.
The Finish: Long and rounded, the finish unfolds into cacao, caramel, and soft oak, lifted by touches of wild honey and a gentle, lingering spice.
The result is a liquid that is remarkably versatile – complex enough to sip but vibrant enough to lead a tropical cocktail. Each drop carries the salt of the coast and the lingering sweetness of long, unhurried days.
More Than Just a Bottle: The Lifestyle
In a move that feels authentically Goan, the distillery has partnered with Hideaway Goa as the official ambassadors and custodians of this tropical way of life. This isn’t just about putting a bottle on a shelf; it is about community, music, storytelling, and the bouncing to heady rhythms. The goal is to build a lifestyle-first brand that celebrates the colours and flavours of the tropics as a way of life, not just through the product.
Where to Find It
If you are lucky enough to be in Goa right now, you can already find Lost & Found on the shelves. For those of you in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka, do not fret – the distillery says it will be arriving shortly.
Third Eye Distillery is proving once again that great whiskey isn’t about age, but about character, craft, and provenance – and it seems they are applying that same bold vision to redefine India’s role in the world of rum. We are just happy to be along for the ride.
