Good news, Delhi! Some ace of base people have taken note of the smashing musical talent growing, and are creating winning spaces for live gigs. The DSSC HQ scoured the city to bring you the topcat spaces that host stellar artists and equally smashing nibbles & tipples. #DSSCRecommends city-wide destinations to amp things up, get back your sharp, and not have to scale back (get it?). Yeah, we are clef-er and you are in for quite a live-ly ride.
The Piano Man Jazz Club
Delhi’s most voguish place which values music and musicians, The Piano Man Jazz Club is the spade to trump when it comes to live music. Reinventing Delhiites love for Jazz, their gig calendar boasts of top-notch performances every month. Arjun Sagar Gupta, also a DSSC Power Packer, is the force behind the club and the man broadening the spectrum of music culture in the capital. Zealously passionate about music and the club, Arjun ensures that musicians are paid the respect they deserve. With the likes of Yugo, Sylvain Rifflet, and Terra Guitar Quartet lined up for the month of April, The Piano Man Club is inspiring us to join a band or jazz up the orchestra (okay, that joke fell flat but we will measure up for it in a minuet, and leave the music to those, for whom it’s a forte).
DSSC Tip: We’d strongly suggest to make a table reservation as this place packs up quick on all nights of the week!
Head over to B 6-7/22 Safdarjung Enclave Market, opposite deer park for a night at The Piano Man Jazz Club.
Depot 48
Depot 48 isn’t just known for its waffles, also hosting kick-ass music nights, they are now launching a Depot Station 48! Boasting of original music and inspired food, it’s the place to get unplugged on every weekend night. An intimate space for music gigs, they host a range of artists from folk to fusion, gracing the stage and getting the city to vibe to its bass. Acoustically designed for live music, the space exudes an essence of creativity. With the likes of Tanya Nambiar, N*HILATE and The Blue Grass Journeyman having performed in Feb & March, (w)embouchure the lineup for April is going to be just as strong.
DSSC Tip: Do not even think of leaving the premises without ordering the Banana & Toffee Waffles. Just don’t even think about it.
Head over to Level 2, N 3, N.Block Market, Greater Kailash 1 for an ace celebratory night at Depot 48 when in mood for them tunes.
Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy
THE neighbourhood bar in Gurgaon, Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy does live music nights and an open Firry MIC every month, inspiring you to take the stage. Let out your inner musician at the coolest bar in town and complement that with Yangdup Lama’s smashing cocktails that are served with some top-class banter. With music performances by Retrospection and Ghetto Children part of their usual lineup, we assure it’s a place you’ll want to be Bach at.
DSSC Tip: With the limited seats, we would recommend making a reservation in advance.
Head over to SCO 23, Sector 15, Part 2 Market, Gurugram for a night of tipples and symphony at Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy.
AntiSocial
Acclaimed as a raw, un-programmed and unregulated space for the social outliers, AntiSocial is HKV’s go-to music hotspot. From rock & roll, contemporary, instrumental, to indie, you will see artists from all genres performing at AntiSocial being cheered with equal enthusiasm. With the likes of Karsh Kale having graved his console here, the lineup has been growing exponentially and so has the crowd! Head here for an evening of buzzing energy, eclectic performances, and contagious love for music.
DSSC Tip: Post the performace, head downstairs to Social and order the China Box, Prawn Sesame Toast, and PBJ & Bacon Amazeballs. YUM.
Head over to 9A & 12, 3rd Floor, Hauz Khas Village for a euphoric evening at AntiSocial.
Le Bistro Du Parc
This French hotspot isn’t just revolutionising the culinary scene, but also taking over the world of music in the city. Romancing French cuisine and Jazz performances, Le Bistro Du Parc transforms into a cafe under the starlit sky on one of the quiet corners in Paris, every Wednesday and Friday night. With mist fans spraying cool breeze in hot summer months (in our opinion, one of the worst invention made by mankind for womankind), they take every step to ensure the focus remains on the music & symphony. Offering “a melody, a heartbeat, and a soulful moment,” the magic of these ethereal evenings is something few can resist.
DSSC Tip: Pair their stellar coq au vin with Pinot Noir for a quintessentially French meal.
Head over to A-57, 58, 59 Moolchand Market, Defence Colony, for a quintessentially Parisian evening at Le Bistro Du Parc.
Lovin’ it? Us too. See you at the next gig in town!
