When Defence Colony’s Pint Room shut down, it took away one of our favourite terraces, but we’re happy to see the same space in action again, though this time as Number 31. Spanning over three floors, it is topped with a chic terrace and cushy couches. We’re not ignoring the first two floors {they’re done up beautifully} but it’s the terrace which has our hearts, at least while the weather’s playing nice.
Brekkie made fun
Number 31 has positioned itself as a dim sum and sushi bar, but we sure are loving their breakfast menu more! Start with a quinoa salad, or the very sweet Quinoa and Fig Pudding for a dose of health before you attack the carbs. Specifically the blueberry pancakes, Snickers Waffles, and the burger complete with a sunny side up sitting atop the patty.
Dim Sums Galore
They’ve got a pretty wide variety of dim sums and sushi. We especially liked the Prawn and Spinach dim sums with black bean sauce and the sushi bowl (this is essentially a bed of rice topped with sashimi, crab sticks and tempura prawn). The Mango and Crab sushi is worth a try for the novelty, too. And the Spicy Chicken Beetroot dim sums should be ordered for the cute factor (they’re shaped like fat little peppers). One of our favourite things here was the Pumpkin and Goat Cheese fried dim sums. Do try this, along with the pita and hummus.
They’re expecting their liquor license around April and intend to bring in many labels of fine wine with it. Meanwhile, head here for a hearty breakfast and great seafood.
