Founded by partners Sangram Singh Samra and Anushka Chaturvedi, Second Born is imagined as the easygoing, playful sibling to their neighbouring venture, Staple. While Staple holds its own as a neighborhood favourite, Second Born is where the energy shifts toward the easygoing, the unhurried, and the art of slowing down without losing the city’s pulse. It is a space designed for people who like to settle in, order well, and stay a little longer than they originally planned.
The inspiration stems from rooftops the founders have lingered on during their travels and quiet moments spent with siblings and friends. The result is a venue that is casual in spirit but intentional in its execution, balancing ease with a serious dedication to craft – never rushed and never performative.
Second Born is designed to feel like a rooftop living room under the open sky. The layout is a deliberate rejection of performative nightlife, opting instead for elements that encourage genuine connection.
The visual language is warm, contemporary, and colourful, filled with personal touches that make the space feel lived-in. From curated knickknacks collected from places the founders love to subtle, heartwarming references to their dogs, Luca and Auggie, appearing on coasters and artworks, the bar prioritises personality over polished anonymity.
The cocktail program at Second Born is where the authority of the craft really shines, though it never feels snobbish. The menu is built around the concept of sibling ingredients – pairing a primary ingredient with its natural offshoot (think cacao and chocolate, or coffee and cascara). The result? Drinks that feel intuitive and familiar, yet offer a quiet complexity that rewards the curious palate.
The kitchen focuses on flavour-forward bar bites. Expect punchy sandwiches and tacos designed for grazing – the kind of plates that can be enjoyed slowly over the course of several rounds.
