Vodka has always been the shapeshifter of the alco-bev world. It’s the spirit you’ll find at every kind of party, from big fat Indian weddings to rooftop sundowners, slipping easily into classic cocktails, working perfectly well as a fuss-free sip, and yes, even lining up for shots when the night calls for it. Crisp, clean, versatile, vodka’s always been the cool kid who fits in everywhere. But for all its popularity, it’s also carried a reputation for being, well… a bit predictable.
Enter ZigZag Vodka, the homegrown brand that clearly didn’t come here to blend in. With its bold flavours, playful design, and “never walk straight” philosophy, ZigZag is giving vodka a much-needed personality upgrade. And in just a few months since its launch, it’s already made the world sit up and take notice by snagging four medals at the Asia World Spirits Competition 2025 in Singapore.

In a debut that could only be described as a clean sweep, ZigZag Vodka took home three Silver medals for its crisp, smooth Original, the ultimate magic-maker in a glass, the punchy Green Apple that practically begs to be in your next brunch mimosa, and the tropical, sunshine-bright Orange. Not to be left out, the zesty, fresh Lime variant brought home a Bronze, making it four wins out of four entries. Overachiever much?
“This is a proud moment for Indian spirits,” says Ishwaraj Singh Bhatia, Co-Founder of Simba Beer & ZigZag Vodka. “ZigZag is officially the Indian vodka brand to win international honours across its entire range, and that too, within our very first year. It’s an honour to be recognised on a global stage, and it strengthens our belief in what we’re building — a bold, design-led spirit from India that’s ready to be celebrated worldwide.”
Rooted in the philosophy of craftsmanship and innovation, Saltborn, the parent company of Simba craft beer and ZigZag vodka is on a mission to reimagine what Indian consumer brands can represent globally. With these breakout alco-bev brands carving a niche overseas, the collective is steadily shaping a new wave of homegrown brands, defined by authenticity, design-led thinking, and world-class ambition.

The Asia World Spirits Competition, hosted by The Tasting Alliance, is no casual tasting event. Its judging panel is packed with some of the biggest names and experts in the business. So for ZigZag to breeze in with its flavour-forward, design-led approach and walk away with four medals? That’s not just a win for the brand, it’s a win for Indian spirits on the global map.
What makes ZigZag stand out? Maybe it’s the vibrant flavours. Maybe it’s the playful bottles that look as good on your shelf as they taste in your glass. Or maybe it’s the fact that ZigZag never planned to walk the straight line in the first place. With this international nod, ZigZag isn’t just rewriting what an Indian vodka brand can be, it’s making sure the world keeps up with its bold, zigzagging ways.
