If your definition of “aged to perfection” usually applies to cheese or fine wine, think bigger, 50 years bigger. This August, whisky lovers in India are in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat as The Balvenie Fifty–First Edition makes its India debut. And before you ask, no, this isn’t a bottle you’ll find tucked behind the bar at your neighbourhood watering hole. Only one bottle of this ultra-rare single malt will be available in India, exclusively at G Town Wines, Golf Course Road, Gurugram.
Matured for five decades in a European oak refill butt since 1973, The Balvenie Fifty–First Edition is the pinnacle of the distillery’s craftsmanship. Hand-selected by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie, this 50-year-old single malt scotch offers aromas of layered tannins, ripe berries, and rich leather. On the palate, expect a toffee sweetness that gives way to citrus brightness and deep oaky spice — flavours only time can create.
The presentation is as rare as the liquid inside. Designed by Croglin workshop in Cumbria, the packaging includes over 100 handcrafted elements, a seven-layer wood helix structure, and a 14-carat gold-plated brass display, making it as much of a collector’s art piece.

Alongside The Balvenie Fifty, India also welcomes two more limited edition single malt whiskies — The Balvenie Thirty and The Balvenie Twenty-Five — part of the Rare Marriage Collection.
The Balvenie Thirty – Crafted by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, this honey-sweet whisky marries American and European oak casks for flavours of rich honey, mellow oak, and candied orange peel. Presented in a goat leather cylinder with white gold foil, it’s luxury you can sip.
The Balvenie Twenty-Five – A masterclass in balance, this whisky combines European and American oak to deliver bold vanilla oak, crystallised ginger, and runny honey. Its burgundy-to-ombre case, accented with white gold foil rings, represents each year of its maturation.

According to Sachin Mehta, Managing Director, William Grant & Sons India, “India is home to an increasingly discerning community of collectors and whisky connoisseurs who value authenticity, legacy, and craftsmanship.”
The launch of The Balvenie Fifty in India is a milestone for luxury spirits in the country. For collectors, it’s an opportunity to own a bottle that’s been ageing patiently since 1973 — a liquid time capsule.
